Targeting

Ever thought ‘what a coincidence’ when browsing online? When ten minutes ago you were looking at that camera on Amazon then, while browsing on another site, you are confronted by that exact same camera on a banner advert? This is target marketing or retargeting, where by display advertisements relating to products you have recently viewed online are distributed across a large network of third party websites, so when you’re browsing online you keep seeing these products again and again. These personalised displays aim to retain a site visitor’s interest and re-engage with them after they leave a website. Why try to get past customers to buy again when 70% of retargeted customers are more likely to complete a sale? Targeting works on a cost per click basis so if a user doesn’t click, you don’t pay. How’s that for cost effective advertising? Targeting also gives you a second chance to close the deal, translating into better conversion rates.
