Byron Gordon, SEO-PR, interviews James Yancey, SearchIgnite Europe, at SES London 2011, on the subject of retargeting remarketing. The idea behind targeting remarketing is when a visitor comes to your website, and they leave the site and visit another site, the display ad previously seen on your website will be shown again, specifically to those who saw your ad on your website. James says if a marketer wants to implement a targeting remarketing campaign, they must consider the following: frequency and the right category one must consider before implementing a targeting remarketing campaign. There are many targeting remarketing campaigns out now, according to James, that will stalk people. To avoid this scenario, James says there are numerous technology platforms and manual ways to look at your data to make sure you create the right collection of cookies and to do so at the right frame of time so you are better able to feature your ads without stalking your potential customer. James says marketers must also tailor their product’s message to a specific product. James concludes with an excellent example of targeting remarketing campaign as implemented by Amazon.
